Light in the Darkness

She sometimes sinks into the darkness 

Left by his departure from this world

Loneliness, anger and guilt fill her heart

even though she knows 

there’s nothing she could’ve done

She is acutely aware that the pain and emptiness she now feels will never completely heal

The one thing she is sure of

Is that he will always be her light of 

Hope illuminating the hand of darkness

that life may deal her

Just like he’d done before his untimely departure to heaven 

She will pick herself up and move on because she knows that’s what he would want for her
